Worked example

  1. 1.Inputs: 14,360 mm real buggy length, 1:10 scale.
  2. 2.Model = 14,360 / 10 = 1,436 mm — too long for a buggy? A 1:10 buggy is ~420 mm; check you entered the real dimension of the subject you are scaling.

Assumptions and limits

  • Scale describes linear dimensions only — weight and speed do not scale the same way.
  • Reverse the same formula to recover the denominator from a measured model part.
