LiPo Voltage Calculator
Work out nominal and fully charged pack voltage from the LiPo cell count.
Battery
Result
Nominal voltage
3.7V
1.00S LiPo nominal
Fully charged voltage
4.2V
Nominal 3.7 V/cell; fully charged 4.2 V/cell. Working voltage sits between and sags under load.
Formula
- 1.
Nominal Voltage = Cell Count × 3.7 V - 2.
Full Charge Voltage = Cell Count × 4.2 V
Worked example
- 1.Inputs: 4S LiPo.
- 2.Nominal = 4 × 3.7 = 14.8 V; full charge = 4 × 4.2 = 16.8 V.
Assumptions and limits
- Do not apply LiPo constants to LiHV, LiFe or NiMH packs.
- Under load the real voltage is below nominal — use it for matching, not runtime math.

FAQ
Is a full 2S 8.4 V or 7.4 V?
Both are correct at different states: 8.4 V fully charged, 7.4 V nominal.
Assumptions
- LiPo chemistry only — other chemistries use different cell voltages.
- Nominal is a label value, not a measured operating voltage.
